Salute Hero - Omega Speedmaster Watch BA145.022

In 1969, the world was warmly celebrating the successful landing of the Apollo 11 moon. On November 25th of the same year, an astronaut celebration dinner was held in Houston, Texas, to pay tribute to the heroes of the moon in this mission. At the dinner party, a specially designed Omega Speedmaster watch became the focus of the audience. This model of BA145.022 is a yellow 18K gold case with a rare Burgundy red bezel. The back of the watch is engraved with the inscription: "to mark man's conquest of space with time, through time, on time" and was given to all astronauts who participated in the NASA space program.

The replica Omega Speedmaster all-gold watch is equipped with a 861 manual winding movement. It was put into production in 1969. It produced 1,014 pieces as of 1973 and is Omega's first numbered commemorative watch. Omega presented the 1st and 2nd watches to the then US President Richard Nixon and Vice President Spiro Agnew, both watches It is housed in the Omega Museum.

Omega presented the commemorative watches numbered 3 to 28 to NASA astronauts, 19 of which were presented to astronauts attending the Houston dinner, and three were awarded to astronauts who had lost their duties in the Apollo 1 mission. Virgil Grissom, Edward White and Roger Chaffee. The commemorative watches numbered 29 to 32 were given to the Swiss watch industry leaders and politicians, but the watch was not engraved with a limited number.

Commemorative watches numbered 33 to 1,000 are available for sale to the general public. These watches are engraved with the words "OMEGA SPEEDMASTER", "APOLLO XI 1969" and "Ω THE FIRST WATCH WORN ON THE MOON". Although the engraved text on these watches is different from the models given to astronauts, the number of watches is still closely related to space exploration, and is still highly sought after by watch lovers. Each watch comes with a special watch box, and the unique shape of the moon pit makes the watch case itself highly collectible.

In addition, the commemorative watches No. 1,001 to 1,008 were given to astronauts who later performed Apollo 14 and 17 missions, while watches 1,009 to 1,014 were collected by other celebrities. For the super-fighters, the Omega Speedmaster watch BA145.022 is undoubtedly a classic in the history of chronograph watches. Not only because of the exquisite appearance of this watch gold and Burgundy red collision, but also because of its brand's high respect for NASA astronauts' contribution to the human landing on the moon
